 FOR OUR HERO are the ever-growing Cinderella story of the Australian music scene. Establishing themselves from the ground up without the luxury of financial backing or management, this pop/rock Melbourne six piece decided to take the industry on independently. An exhaustive succession of touring with top-40 artists such as Short Stack, 3OH!3, Amy Meredith, Michael Paynter, Gyroscope, The Getaway Plan and Vanessa Amorosi, solidified a fanatic For Our Hero following of thousands. Expanding their fan base through social media tools and networks propelled the 2010 release Afterglow to debut at number 2 on the iTunes rock charts, number 7 on the Australian iTunes charts and elevated the band to number 1 on PureVolume. Mirroring this aptitude onstage saw For Our Hero sell out the Collingwood Town Hall in Melbourne, the Annandale Hotel in Sydney, The Fort in Brisbane, Cockburn Youth Centre in Perth and Fowlers in Adelaide. Returning from the US after self-funding their debut album with gold record producer Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail, Circa Survive), For Our Hero’s energetic first single Don’t You Dare fuses catchy hooks with a chorus that’s left in your head for days. A music video and national tour is set to accompany the release this August, with the band’s full length due later in the year.
