Biography

Hide
Norma Jean is a Christian Mathcore band from Douglasville, Georgia, USA, a suburb of Atlanta. Norma Jean was nominated for Best Recording Package, at the Grammy Awards of 2006.
Originally known as Luti-Kriss, they released their first album in 1999, the "Travail+Luti-Kriss" split CD on Pluto Records, which was then re-released as an EP titled 5ep through Pluto Records in 2000. The band was then signed to Tooth and Nail/Solid State Records and put out a full-length release, Throwing Myself, in 2001. After the release of Throwing Myself, the band changed their name to Norma Jean to avoid confusion with rapper Ludacris, who is also from the Atlanta area. In 2002, the band released Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child on Solid State Records[2]. They released their second album in March of 2005, titled O God, the Aftermath [3]. Their original vocalist, Josh Scogin, left the band just before the release of Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child, stating that it "was just something that I felt led to do." After this multiple vocalists have been used at shows such as Hellfest. [4] Scogin went on to start The Chariot, and was replaced by Cory Brandan, formerly of the bands Eso-Charis and Living Sacrifice, who can be heard on Norma Jean's second album O God the Aftermath and current album Redeemer. The band recently released the album, Redeemer, recorded with producer Ross Robinson.
