Melbourne's 'The Tall Poppies'The Tall Poppies firmly believe in writing great rock songs. Songs with honesty and integrity. Songs with balls, melody, fun, angst and character. Songs you can laugh to, sing along to, tap your feet to, cry to and rock the f&$# out to! Since their humble beginnings as an acoustic band, The Tall Poppies have spent the past few years developing into one of Melbourne’s most solid rock acts. Within this time, they have gigged solidly across their hometown and abroad. Playing alongside bands including Screamfeeder, Gyroscope, H-Block 101, Grand Fatal, Tiltmeter, Antiskeptic and Blueline Medic, they are continually building a loyal and ever-growing fan base. The studio has also been a haven for the band. Having released an acoustic EP, as well as their debut album ‘For What It’s Worth’ in 2004 (distributed nationally through Lagoon Records). A strong work ethic has been the driving force behind the bands success thus far. The past 12 months have been both tedious, yet rewarding. Searching long and hard for a new bassist and guitarist proved to be a frustrating process but also gave the band opportunity to write its best material to date. The Tall Poppies return to the scene as a shining light from amongst the plethora of bands that meander on with one eye stuck firmly in the mirror. With a new EP on the way, The Tall Poppies, despite the colloquialism, will not be cut down… "The Tall Poppies will go on to previously unforeseen rock heights" Beat Magazine 2004 |
