“For most Melbournians, the name ‘Waverley’ is synonymous with a local football ground but after Friday night’s show, I suspect that may not be the case for much longer.” - Beat Magazine
After spending the back half of 2011 gigging, making music videos and releasing the singles ‘Where Were You’ and ‘Paper Walls’ to punters in Melbourne, the time has finally come for Waverley to put out their debut album ‘Challenger’. The album was born when Craig Harnath (Jet, Motor Ace) caught the guys playing at the Brunswick Hotel in early 2011 and was able to convince the band that himself and Jez Giddings at Hothouse Audio knew just how to capture Waverley’s energetic, grungy sound in a studio environment. Leading up to the release of ‘Challenger’, Waverley has kept themselves busy writing, producing and filming the music videos for the first two singles which got them steady play throughout October and December on ABC’s Rage and on the airwaves all around Australia on indie radio. The band is a big believer in the music video as the new way for bands to set themselves apart and showcase their creativity on a budget of nothing so in keeping with this philosophy they are releasing another video with the album for the track ‘Feeling Nothing’. Find it on Youtube or at www.waverleyband.com 2012 will be a big year for the guys as they tour the country promoting ‘Challenger’ and continue to build up a loyal fan base.
