![]() Chris Duke and The Royals are a five-piece party punk band hailing from the hard-edged ghettos of the placid, leafy suburbs of Sydney’s North-West. Casting aside a profitless life of petty crime and selling themselves on the streets some five years ago, they took a more musical path - one that would ultimately lead to the formation of what has been fervently described by promoters as “One of Sydney’s most punctual bands”. Time management aside, this quintet has consistently brought their numerous skills to show after show, exhibiting a high-energy atmosphere that rocks any stage big enough to contain their spectacular big air jumps and significantly less-spectacular controlled-breathing exercises. As is the band’s intention, crowds invariably walk away from a Royals show with a smile on their face. They have performed their travelling stage spectaculars (gigs) at countless venues across Sydney, as well as Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Newcastle and The Gold Coast just to name a few. Buoyed by their on-stage success, and on the back of their first EP ‘Scissors, Paper, Rock’, Chris Duke and The Royals have just released their debut album “Mega Awesome Kapow”; with fourteen big tracks that vary from explosive, in-your-face punk through to upbeat, bouncy ska. |
