About me: I'm Dylan, I play guitar/percussion/vocals in Sydney Alt-Prog band Breaking Orbit. We recently released our debut album 'The Time Traveller' this year.
I'm also an audio engineer, so you may see me around the country mixing bands at live shows :)

I must say, that this year my recreational listening seems to have diminished between producing albums, mixing live bands and playing shows.
As I look through my iTunes albums for 2012, there are a few stand out releases that I have played to death - even though some of these were only just released. I have listened to more albums this year, though these are definitely the ones of note (that FistToFace have on their list):
Twelve Foot Ninja - I can't get enough of these guys. I have always been a fan of their style of music, and the songwriting on their debut album 'Silent Machine' is great. Heavy grooves, mixed up with all styles of other groove. I particularly like their fusion with Dub in tracks such as 'Vanguard'.
Anathema - This album is another one that I just can't stop coming back to. I think this band is truly at their peak after almost 20 years of being together. It has great textures, and the tracks are really varied. I especially like listening to this album to relax...
Strangers - A great up and coming Aussie band who have a solid heavy-rock sound and a great live show. Have seen these guys a bunch of times this year, and the never fail to impress. Their album carries the same vibe, with great guitar riffs and strong vocal melodies.
