Brett's Top 10 Albums of 2012

Brett's Comments:
When the request came through to put up some top album votes for 2012 on the F2F site I said "Sure!" (or something equally agreeable.) Music, interweb things, making lists - it's all good stuff, right? No problem, I thought.
Then I sort of let it slide for a few days.
Suddenly an icy fear gripped my soul as it dawned on me that being a pathological procrastinator who has spent much of the year listening to Ween's back catalogue while sporadically giggling like a moron did not stand me in good stead for this one. How could I possibly listen to, assess and rank every album released in the last twelve months? Further research did quickly clarify that wasn't expected as such, but still, I was in way over my head. I needed help.

It was clear who to turn to - my Jebediah bandmates. They'd be sure to have a finger on the pulse. I felt relieved. Then, I admit, I sort of let it slide for a few days.

Well, it turns out that recording solo albums, playing with one year old daughters and planning weddings APPARENTLY takes precedence over such things... sheesh.

Lucky for me I play in another band with my favourite bassist, none of whom are distracted by such trivial pursuits, and so it was that the Axe Girl session at Blackbird Studio in Perth over the weekend saved the day. It may be kinda short, it may be submitted stupidly late, it may be weird that five people ended up with only four albums - but we're musicians, not mathematicians. Besides, I'm a drummer and numbers larger than four confuse and enrage me.

So here it is, our 2012 shortlist.
