About me:
I am the owner/head booking agent/label manager of 'Welkin Entertainment', one of Australia's premier metal and rock event management companies. As well as representing some of Australia's best metal and rock bands I am also responsible for the successful festivals 'Progfest' & 'Sonic Forge' amongst other things. In addition to this I work as a professional violinist and am the violinist and clean vocalist for Melbourne progressive/extreme metallers NE OBLIVISCARIS, who released our debut album 'Portal Of I' in May this year. We hope to take the metal world by storm in the near future!

Well this year has been a pretty fantastic year for music but for me my favourite album of the year is PERIPHERY - II. To me this bands sound is just incredibly fresh and current, it's pushing metal forward in new directions, combining elements that I really never thought would work together and yet somehow these guys pull it off. This album features undeniably catchier and more melodic songs, with occasionally some more straight forward structures in comparison to their debut, whilst also still maintaining the heavy and powerful aspect of their sound and it really forms a great balance in my opinion. Honourable mentions definitely to the new DEFTONES album which is incredible and the new album from THE FACELESS which really took me by surprise with its progressive direction, but after quite a few listens ended up being one of the surprises of the year for me.
